An aviation specialist is seeking a Bid Manager to join its team in Milton Keynes. As Bid Manager, you will manage external opportunities during the bid phase, ensuring adherence to governance protocols. Your role will involve coordinating key bid components and collaborating with team members to develop cost and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all aspects of planning and executing the bid cycle and governance plan.
  • Managing bid development and submission efficiently, including scheduling and key reviews.
  • Customising and implementing a suitable bid process for each opportunity.
  • Creating and obtaining approval for a realistic bid plan and schedule, covering resources, budgets, responsibilities, and task allocation.
  • Handling the business approval process at all required authority levels, including security and export approvals.
  • Leading the multi-disciplinary bid team and keeping them informed of requirements and bid status regularly.
  • Engaging with bid stakeholders at all levels and keeping the Senior Leadership Team updated, including timely issue escalation.
  • Supporting risk and opportunity management throughout the bid process.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent or proven relevant work experience.
  • Eligibility for SC clearance is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bid/proposal techniques and best practice.
  • Has comprehensive practical and relevant work experience.
  • Experience of leading complex bids with multiple stakeholders and managing them through to submission.
  • Use of Microsoft packages, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Experience within the Defence/Aerospace/Maritime industry is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of latest bid/proposal best practice in the industry and seeks to apply new techniques to their solutions where possible.
  • Some commercial/legal awareness.
