We’re looking for an experienced IT Engineer to join our IS team in Cheadle Hulme. This is a hands-on, technically diverse role with a strong cloud-first focus, offering an even split between Microsoft 365 services and network infrastructure.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining and developing our global IT environment, supporting modern workplace technologies, and contributing to continuous improvement across systems, security, and documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys balancing cloud technologies with network engineering, while also helping to elevate team capability and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Microsoft 365, Identity & Endpoint Management
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
- Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) users, groups, roles, and access controls.
- Support the transition to cloud-only identity (Azure-only AD).
- Implement and maintain Conditional Access and MFA.
- Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance, and application deployment.
- Support endpoint security solutions and troubleshoot authentication and access issues.
- Manage M365 licensing and tenant health.
- Network & Connectivity
- Administer Cisco Meraki firewalls (MX) including WAN, VPNs, and firewall rules.
- Manage Ubiquiti UniFi switches and wireless infrastructure.
- Configure VLANs, segmentation, and wireless SSIDs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and ISP connectivity.
- Maintain network documentation and diagrams.
- Liaise with ISPs and network service providers.
- Support the phone system.
- Azure & Server Platform Support
- Support Azure-hosted Windows and Linux servers.
- Perform OS-level administration, patching, and basic security hardening.
- Support backups, recovery, and availability.
- Contribute to performance and cost optimisation discussions.
- IT Training, Development & Documentation
- Contribute to IT department development through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with onboarding and upskilling of IT team members.
- Develop and maintain technical standards and procedures.
- Produce clear, well-structured technical documentation and diagrams.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Entra ID (Azure AD) and Intune administration.
- Meraki firewall and UniFi switching/wireless experience.
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
- Experience supporting Azure-hosted Windows and/or Linux servers.
- Strong written documentation and troubleshooting skills.
