Have you ever wondered how organisations decide what something should cost? It isn’t guesswork and it’s certainly not a number pulled out of thin air. Pricing is a careful balance of analytical rigour, commercial awareness and strategic thinking ensuring that a deal is profitable, competitive and sustainable. That’s what pricing truly is.
If you enjoy the analytical side of Maths, Business or Science, if spreadsheets make sense to you and you get genuine satisfaction from solving problems with numbers, then a career in pricing could be your first meaningful step into the world of finance.
The role:
- Shape the Business, influence the numbers and build a meaningful career.
- Academically strong, naturally curious and commercially aware.
- This isn’t a role where you sit quietly producing reports; you’ll be developed, trained and given real responsibility.
You’ll learn:
- How pricing really works in a commercial environment
- How deals are structured
- How profitability is protected
- How strategy is translated into numbers
- And how numbers drive decisions
You’ll also have the option to start training for your accounting qualification, supported by the business, because we’re committed to supporting your long-term development.
What you’ll be doing:
- At first, you’ll absorb and learn the models we use, understanding the methodology behind pricing new deals and get to grips with the tools in place.
- Then, as you develop your understanding:
- Pricing & Modelling: Take ownership of individual deal pricing, manage and improve the pricing tools and models we use.
- Commercial Partnership: Work directly with Sales & Operations on specific pricing proposals, help to structure campaigns and initiatives, provide insight to support commercial negotiations.
- Strategy & Shift Pricing: Analyse overall pricing performance across products, geographies and channels, contribute to improvements in pricing frameworks and tools.
- Profitability & Reporting: Analyse portfolio profitability through different lenses, deliver regular pricing performance reporting, provide strategic pricing insight in key areas.
In short: you’ll progress from learning the mechanics to influencing the direction, partnering with the business and helping to shape decisions.
What you’ll bring:
- You’ll likely be highly numerate and analytical with a strong academic track record.
- Advanced skills in Excel particularly with large datasets (PivotTables, Power Query, VBA a bonus).
- Curious about how revenue, cost and profit truly interconnect.
- Enthusiastic about Finance, but also about partnering with Sales and Operations.
- Comfortable communicating insights to a range of stakeholders.
You don’t need years of experience but you do need drive and the confidence to work across functions.
The good stuff:
- £30-35K + Performance Bonus (Up to 20%)
- Massive impact on revenue and commercial decision-making.
- You’ll develop knowledge fast and solve real problems.
- You’ll learn how pricing strategy supports wider business objectives.
- Private healthcare for you and your family.
- Company pension scheme.
- Flexible benefits (gym membership, tech, health assessments and more).
- Access to an online wellbeing centre.
- Discounts with a wide range of retailers.
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, with buy/sell options.
- Electric Vehicle / Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle scheme.
