Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park is looking for an experienced and motivated Farm Ranger/stockman. This is a hands-on, role delivering the daily care of our rare breed animals and seasonal livestock, ensuring the highest standards of welfare and smooth day-to-day operations.
About the Role
As the Farm Ranger/Stockman, you will take ownership of our farm area, which includes:
- Rare breed pigs, sheep, goats, cattle, horse, chickens and other poultry
- Seasonally: up to 10,000 Kelly Bronze turkeys
You will be responsible for delivering all aspects of animal care and assisting in the planning of breeding schedules. Alongside your animal husbandry duties, you’ll deliver daily talks and experiences to visitors, showcasing the history, importance, and continued role of rare breeds in modern farming, and their central place in our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining and overseeing ourfarm section, ensuring smooth daily operations
- Carrying out and delivering daily husbandry tasks to the highest welfare standards
- Assist in planning and delivering breeding programmes for all livestock
- Coordinating and preparing for abattoir runs.
- Delivering engaging public talks and hands-on experiences.
- Educating visitors on the importance of rare breeds and heritage farming
- Operating and maintaining the use of farm machinery, including Compact tractors, trailers and telescopic handlers
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong practical experience with livestock, ideally including rare breeds
- Has proven experience in lambing and calving
- Is confident in delivering and leading a farm operation
- Is committed to maintaining high welfare standards for all animals in their care
- Can confidently drive a trailer and operate a telescopic handler (training can be provided if required)
- Is confident speaking to the public and enjoys engaging with people of all ages
- Is organised, proactive, and capable of overseeing multiple priorities
- Is physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
- Holds a full UK driving licence (essential)
