We are excited to announce that we have the rare opportunity for the right candidate tojointhe Five Sisters Zoo team as an Education Officer. With new education facilities opening later this year, this is an exciting time to become part of the FSZ team.

The successful candidate will:

-Work with our Head of Education to deliver the Five Sisters Zoo Education strategy.

-Plan and deliver curriculum linked workshops/sessions for visiting nurseries, schools and higher education institutes.

-Work with our administration team to book and coordinate school/group visits to Five Sisters Zoo.

-Deliver outreach visits to schools or other groups.

-Assist with the creation and implementation of new educational workshops and sessions.

-Assist with the creation of new educational resources.

-Assist in the organisation of special zoo events.

-Develop new interpretation boards and educational signage throughout the zoo.

-Work with higher education students and academics to support research conducted at Five Sisters Zoo.

-Liaise with staff across the zoo team to ensure the education department runs smoothly and efficiently.

-A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. biology, zoology, environmental science) OR appropriate teaching qualifications.

-Experience of public speaking and the ability to give clear and exciting presentations.

-The ability to work under pressure.

-The ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

-Good level of physical fitness. This position requires a lot of moving around and there are often tasks that require spending a lot of time outdoors.

-A clear passion for wildlife conservation.

-The ability to work well as part of a team and as an individual.

-High levels of motivation and enthusiasm.

-The ability to use basic computer software packages (including word and excel).

-The successful candidate must be willing to join the PVG Scheme.

– A full clean driving licence.

– Experience working with young people and/or adults with complex needs.
