Providing a first-class service to visitors to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) Edinburgh Zoo and in community spaces, in a varied and exciting role engaging communities.

Ensuring a high standard of customer service always. Delivering an innovative and creative activities, talks and community programmes to engage and excite audiences in support of RZSS’ vision and mission.

This is a fixed-term (approx. 5 years) / full-time position.

Some of the things you’ll do:

  • Develop and deliver content for community programmes including the creation and tailoring of resource materials (presentations, activities, interactive games) to suit diverse audiences (older, younger, additional needs), often with varying timescales
  • Design programmes with inherent flexibility to accommodate varying individual needs and respond effectively to shifting community dynamics
    Support the delivery of the ongoing community plan and meet agreed engagement targets
  • Support relationships that promote the zoos’ resource as a community hub to broaden our reach
  • Maintain dynamic first-class customer service and public engagement throughout all delivery focusing on delivering informative, professional presentations and exceeding audience expectations
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues to ensure programmes are administered, delivered and the logistics managed effectively as part of the wider Discovery and Learning programme.

What we’re looking for:

  • Educated to Degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience in a similar role
  • Full Driving license
  • Understanding of working with communities and public engagement practices
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including O365 and associated tools (Forms, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook. Task)
  • Assertive communicator, confident in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and presentation formats
  • Demonstrable experience in an engagement based position such as delivering community programmes.

What you’ll getin return:

  • Starting salary between £24,896 – £25,518 (offer based on experience) with future salary progression up to £27,749 per annum
  • 34 days annual leave (pro rata)
