We are looking for Qualified Professional Scuba Diver to join our team at Deep Sea World!

Join the team at Scotland’s National Aquarium where we offer visitors the chance to experience the UK’s longest underwater viewing tunnel, mysterious coral reefs, majestic sharks and our amazing seal harbour. Over 40 displays, including the 4.5-million-litre Underwater Safari with its walkthrough tunnel, are home to hundreds of fascinating creatures, ranging from seals and seahorses to stingrays and giant sand tiger sharks. Located beneath the world-famous Forth Rail Bridge, Deep Sea World is the place for you!

Job Description

Through consideration of the Visitor experience, fun, education, value, conservation awareness and animal welfare - employ Zoological strategies with an enthusiastic attitude, delivering the highest standard of maintenance and public shark dive operations throughout Deep Sea World (DSW) ensuring that visitors are satisfied and want to return.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Dive Officer you will assist in ensuring a safe dive operation and management of the dive team. At all times helping ensure the highest standard of animal care and husbandry.
  • You will deliver classroom and dive instruction for our popular dive experiences to juniors and adults alike. (Instructing Sessions will be paid at a higher rate and on a rota’d basis if suitably qualified – PADI Divemasters will be trained to DSD Leader)
  • You will conduct and participate in dive activities including daily shows, maintenance dives, animal feeding and dive experiences/courses;
  • Working alongside the Zoological team you will assist in the upkeep and maintenance of our 4.5 million litre shark exhibit which includes routine cleaning to ensure our shark exhibit is looking its best at all times, necessary for animal welfare as well as visitor enjoyment.
  • You should display a passion for promoting public education and awareness in relation to conservation of biodiversity and delivering a memorable and entertaining experience to visitors.

About you!

  • PADI Divemaster or above (active teaching status required)
  • Holds a current HSE certificate of fitness to dive issued by an AMED
  • First Aid Trained
  • Understanding of UK HSE codes of practice and diving at work regulations
  • Confident public speaker
  • Hands on approach to work, who is not afraid to get their hands dirty

  • Excellent organisational skills and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
