About the Role

Bhuku Ltd is seeking a bank of flexible and reliable Zero Hour Teaching Cover Staff to support delivery across a range of prison education and personal development programmes. This role is ideal for individuals who are confident delivering engaging sessions across multiple subject areas and can adapt quickly to different learning environments. You will provide short‑term and ad‑hoc cover for scheduled delivery, ensuring continuity and high‑quality learning experiences for participants. Delivery may take place in a variety of custodial settings across the UK, with travel and accommodation arranged where necessary.

Subjects You May Deliver:

  • Literacy and reading support
  • Numeracy and basic maths
  • Employability and work‑readiness
  • Personal development and life skills
  • Engagement activities such as chess and structured group sessions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured, engaging sessions in line with programme plans
  • Adapt delivery to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
  • Support learners with low confidence or prior disengagement from education
  • Maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment
  • Follow all safeguarding, security and prison procedures
  • Complete basic session feedback and reporting where required

About You:

  • Confident facilitators with strong communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work across different locations and subjects
  • Reliable and able to step into delivery at short notice
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups, including those with additional needs
  • Able to manage group dynamics in structured environments

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience delivering teaching, training or group‑based sessions
  • Experience supporting learners with varying levels of ability
  • Understanding of literacy and/or numeracy support (desirable)
  • Experience in custodial or secure environments (desirable but not essential)
  • Willingness to undergo prison vetting and clearance - essential
  • Already holds prison clearance - desirable
