ST5+ Clinical Fellow in Anaesthetics – CESR Portfolio Pathway Programme
Job Ref: 162-7814-SURG • Grade: MT03 • Contract: Fixed‑term, 24 months • Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week • Site: Romford, Romford Hospital • Salary: £54,499 per annum (Yearly)

Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality anaesthetic and peri‑operative care across a broad spectrum of clinical specialties.
- Participate actively in theatre lists, deliver essential emergency cover, and support critical‑care duties.
- Maintain meticulous portfolio evidence and engage fully in Specialist Interest Area modules under consultant supervision.
- Contribute to the department’s educational culture through teaching sessions, workshops, and simulation training.
- Play a key role in departmental safety, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance.
- Fulfil service requirements by contributing to local on‑call rosters and covering out‑of‑hours emergencies.
- Complete rotation at Broomfield Hospital and Basildon Cardiothoracic Centre to fulfil modular training.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) qualification.
- FRCA or other recognised UK qualification (accepted tests of knowledge).
- Full registration with the General Medical Council.
- Evidence of anaesthesia‑related audit participation.
Benefits & Conditions
All salaries include standard allowances such as High Cost Area adjustments for those on Agenda for Change contracts. Probationary period applies to all new staff.
