Responsibilities- Receive, prepare and process clinical specimens for testing within standard operating procedures.
- Work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis, including cross-site work between Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital.
- Carry out manual methods and basic maintenance, loading and troubleshooting of analysers within the boundary of the role.
- Undertake regular competence assessments to ensure delivery of high quality service and personal development.
- Support the high daily workload efficiently, including flexible hours during the week, weekends and bank holidays.
- A Level or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a science-related subject.
- Progress to a degree entry qualification.
- Proven experience working in a Microbiology laboratory.
- Experience working in a NHS laboratory.
- Effective time-management and ability to prioritise urgent requests.
- Experience working within a molecular laboratory.
Applicants should be computer literate, able to follow standard operating procedures, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen willingness to learn.
All new staff appointed at the Trust are subject to a probationary period.
