Contract Permanent – 22.5 hours per week (Saturday, Sunday and Monday).

Site: Romford/Ilford – across Queen’s Hospital (Romford) and King George Hospital (Goodmayes).

Salary £17,790 – £18,787 per annum (22.5hrs per week).

Responsibilities
  • Receive, prepare and process clinical specimens for testing within standard operating procedures.
  • Work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis, including cross-site work between Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital.
  • Carry out manual methods and basic maintenance, loading and troubleshooting of analysers within the boundary of the role.
  • Undertake regular competence assessments to ensure delivery of high quality service and personal development.
  • Support the high daily workload efficiently, including flexible hours during the week, weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A Level or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a science-related subject.
  • Progress to a degree entry qualification.
  • Proven experience working in a Microbiology laboratory.
  • Experience working in a NHS laboratory.
Skills & Abilities
  • Effective time-management and ability to prioritise urgent requests.
  • Experience working within a molecular laboratory.
Additional Information

Applicants should be computer literate, able to follow standard operating procedures, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen willingness to learn.

All new staff appointed at the Trust are subject to a probationary period.
