We are currently recruiting for a motivated and dynamic Band 3 Generic Therapy Assistant. This is a permanent full-time role where you will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists rotating across the Stroke wards along the pathway providing rehabilitation. This includes our Hyper Acute and Acute Stroke Unit at Queen’s Hospital and our Rehab unit King George Hospital.
As a member of this team, you will be required to communicate well and be confident to work within guidelines and protocols. Working in this passionate and innovative team you will have the opportunity to expand your clinical skills and knowledge with regular in-house training.
Main duties of the job:
- To provide skilled routine, and some non-routine, clinical and non-clinical support to the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy Teams.
- Primary assessment of patient.
- Referral for treatment.
- Clinical discharge of patient.
- Setting the primary clinical treatment plan and monitoring the progression of the patient.
- Overseeing the clinical quality and ensuring appropriateness of the treatment practised on the patient.
Person specification:
- Education/Qualifications: Good standard of general education, to G.C.S.E. level or equivalent. Willingness to follow a training programme which may involve course work.
- Experience/Knowledge: Knowledge/experience of working in healthcare or similar setting. Understanding of role of therapists in the rehabilitation of stroke patients.
- Skills/Abilities: Ability to understand and follow instructions accurately and learn new skills quickly. Computer skills to ECDL level or equivalent, or the ability to work towards ECDL.
