Main Duties of the Job

The post is designed to share responsibility for comprehensive interventional and diagnostic neuroradiology services, including neurovascular clinics and MDTs. The successful candidate will support the Radiology department primarily in the following areas:

  • Neuro interventional procedures
  • Mechanical thrombectomy service (MT)
  • Weekend MT and coiling service
  • Cross‐sectional neuroradiology reporting
  • Work cross‐site: KGH and QH

It is desirable that the candidate has experience with advanced imaging modalities such as perfusion, spectroscopy, and functional MRI. Contribution to the vetting of cross‐sectional scans, interventional procedures, and solving queries from clinical and radiology teams is mandatory.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to appropriate clinical and quality standards.
  • Liaise effectively and in a timely manner with colleagues, GPs, community services, and all healthcare agencies.
  • Maintain and promote team and multidisciplinary working.
  • Participate in development, organisation, and management of radiology services.
  • Attend departmental governance meetings, investigations of incidents, audits, operational and clinical meetings.
  • Acquire and maintain the required level of evidence‐based practice within your area of special interest.
  • Comply with all trust and departmental policies in relation to job planning, appraisal, and leave.
  • Deputise for an absent consultant or associate specialist colleague when necessary.
  • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programme activities.
  • Ensure mandatory training is up to date as per trust policy.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support 2 trainees from London Deanery and 1 trainee from East of England (1–2 trainees at a time) in neuroradiology rotation with teaching and supervised reporting.
  • Teaching experience and supervisor skills training is desirable.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience in management is desirable though no specific managerial responsibility is attached to this role.
  • Participate in quality assurance projects and investigating incidents related to neuroradiology.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications Fellowship, Royal College of Radiologists
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • Specialist training/fellowship or relevant experience in interventional and interventional neuro radiology
  • MRCP/MRCS
  • Experience of interventional neuroradiology post fellowship at consultant level
  • Experience at consultant level and 24/7 thrombectomy centre in London region
