Consultant Clinical Oncologist – Urology and Colorectal
Job Ref: 162-M7266-L | Grade: YM72 | Contract: Permanent | Hours: 10 sessions per week (Full time)
Location: Queen’s Hospital, Romford, Essex. Salary: £113,565 – £150,569 per annum. Closing date: 05/08/2026 23:59.
Responsibilities
- Clinical oncology management of urology malignancy.
- Clinical oncology management of colorectal malignancy.
- See approximately 200–250 new patients per year, in line with RCR guidelines.
- Conduct clinic reviews.
- Work with and support established multidisciplinary site‑specific teams.
- Provide outpatient chemotherapy and deliver inpatient clinical opinions.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call service (see attached JD for full details).
- Take an active role in research and clinical trials.
- Contribute actively to clinical governance within the department.
- Support and develop quality improvement projects within the department.
- Exercise flexibility to undertake appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions as requested by Clinical Leads.
- Actively participate in the unit’s teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi‑professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
- Participate in clinical guideline development, audit, CPD and ensure successful revalidation when required.
Qualifications
- Full and Specialist registration and a licence to practice.
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CCT date within six months of interview.
- Competent at management of all stages of oncology to CCST or higher.
- Experience teaching and training of undergraduates and junior medical staff.
- Involvement in clinical trials.
- Understanding of clinical audit principles.
- IT skills and computer literacy.
- MD, Ph D or equivalent.
- Leadership training completed.
- Formal training in teaching techniques.
- Published audit or audit‑related publications.
All salaries are inclusive of standard allowances (e. g., High Cost Area for staff on Agenda for Change contracts).
