PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do

This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here

We're looking for an enthusiastic doctor with previous experience in Integrated Sexual Health or Genitourinary Medicine who is passionate about delivering inclusive, evidence-based, patient-centered care. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement, a non-judgmental approach and a genuine commitment to developing a long-term career in Sexual Health, Sexual & Reproductive Health or HIV Medicine.

You will independently assess, diagnose and manage patients with sexually transmitted infections, provide contraception and HIV prevention services (including PrEP and PEP), undertake sexual health risk assessments, partner notification and safeguarding, and work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team. You'll also have opportunities to gain experience in specialist contraception, genital dermatology, HIV medicine, audit, quality improvement and education, supported by dedicated consultant supervision.

Important: We are seeking applicants with a sincere and well-evidenced interest in Sexual Health. Your application should clearly demonstrate your motivation, relevant experience and commitment to the specialty. Generic, AI-generated or templated applications that do not provide authentic, role-specific evidence of interest and experience will not be shortlisted.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to deliver holistic, patient-centered care, including sexual health risk assessment, HIV prevention, partner notification, safeguarding, health promotion and counselling, while working closely with nurses, health advisers and the wider multidisciplinary team. They will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, inclusive and non-judgmental sexual health services and ensure care is delivered in accordance with current BASHH, FSRH and national guidance.

The role includes participation in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement and departmental educational meetings, with opportunities to contribute to service development.

Working for our organisation

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
