PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do

This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here

Are you a dynamic, passionate and innovative midwife looking for an opportunity to lead and support a community midwifery team? Do you have a passion for providing high-quality, evidence-based and woman-centered care?

We are currently recruiting for a Band 7 Community Team Leader Midwife to join our established community midwifery service on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

You will provide clinical and professional leadership within the community setting, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and individualised care. You will work autonomously while providing leadership, supervision and support to colleagues and contributing to the ongoing development of community and intrapartum services.

The role will also include participation in the homebirth on-call service, with opportunities to contribute to Pan-London working, maternity transformation projects and partnership working across East London's Local Maternity System.

We are committed to supporting professional development and offer access to a range of education, training and leadership opportunities, alongside support from our Education Team and senior midwifery team.

If you are an experienced midwife with excellent communication and leadership skills and a passion for exceptional woman-centred care, we would like to hear from you.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification carefully, as your application will be benchmarked against these criteria during shortlisting.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that midwifery practice is evidence-based and women-centred.

To be an expert in the provision of safe and appropriate care to ante, intra and post partum women and act as a resource for junior midwives, students and to all the multidisciplinary team.

To be responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of care to ensure that they meet the needs of the woman, baby and family.

To provide expert midwifery advice and guidance to all members of the multidisciplinary team when necessary.

To ensure that all the policies and protocols of Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospital Trust are adhered to.

Working for our organisation

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
