This is a wide-ranging and challenging position that requires an individual who is committed to, and energised by, client relationships, teamwork, personal development and audit quality. The role will involve leading audit on-site project teams, being a key point of contact for client finance teams and providing quality deliverables to the senior members of the team. The ideal candidate for this role will be based primarily out of our Cleckheaton office, but with the ability to work from our Leeds office as and when needed.
Key Responsibilities

- You’ll be the primary on-site liaison for the key client contacts. You will engage with them on project management and ensure expectations and deliverables are effectively managed.
- You’ll be responsible for quality control of the team’s work by providing effective support and challenge as well as reviewing work.
- You’ll support the Audit Manager in engagement economics, including preparation of budgets and tracking against actuals.
- Manage your own time and that of others to meet deadlines and deliver an effective service to clients.
- Opportunity to be involved in strategic projects at office and firm wide level.
- Contributions to business development activities.
While your base office will be Cleckheaton, you’ll also need the flexibility to work with our Leeds team on their clients, as needed.
The Team
Our Cleckheaton Audit team is around 30 strong, including five Managers, two Directors and three Partners. Working in a collaborative, open plan office, you’ll be line managed by one of our knowledgeable and supportive Audit Managers. You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of clients, working on audits of different sizes and levels of complexity. When conducting an audit on-site, you’ll report to the relevant Assistant Manager or Manager for that audit.
The Culture
Friendly, supportive, caring, inclusive... These are just some of the words that our current colleagues use to describe our culture. We do our best to make sure we bring our company values to life, and through our employee surveys and engagement groups we make sure everyone has the chance to have their say and play a part in shaping our culture.
When you join us, you can expect:
- A welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.
- Regular team events, networking opportunities, and professional development sessions.
- Wellness programs, mental wellbeing support, and initiatives that prioritise your well-being.
The package
- Starting salary is from £40,500 to £43,500 p/a, dependent on experience.
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
- Pension contributions of 5.3% when you contribute 3.2%.
- Healthcare cash plan.
- Life cover 3 x salary.
- Annual leave buying scheme.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Ambition and determination to contribute more broadly, including business development.
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Leadership & people skills to help develop junior members of the team.
- Accurate, methodical and organised.
- Strong project management skills.
- Self-starter who can manage their own time to meet deadlines.
- Pro-active with the ability to work on their own initiative to improve internal processes.
- Well presented, dynamic and personable.
- Ability to pro-actively research and improve technical knowledge.
- ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
- Strong audit experience in Practice.
- Experience of UK auditing standards.
- Excellent IT skills, including experience of using different accounting packages and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- The ability to travel to clients as and when needed.
You’ll thrive in this role if you strike the perfect balance between technical audit know-how and a friendly, people-first attitude. We’re looking for someone with a natural curiosity for how different businesses tick, with the passion and knowledge to effectively audit them.
The process
Our recruitment process typically includes an initial informal chat about the role followed by more structured face-to-face interviews. We’ll keep you updated in good time at every stage.
