We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join our established Residential Property team.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion, delivering high-quality legal advice and exceptional client service throughout the transaction process.

This role will operate across our Durham, Newcastle & Tynemouth offices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Case Management
- Manage a full caseload of residential property transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
β’ Handle a broad range of matters including
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- Re-mortgages
- Transfers of equity
- New build purchases
- Shared ownership transactions
- Help to Buy matters
- Right to Buy transactions
- Review and report on title documentation, searches, contracts and mortgage offers.
- Draft, negotiate and approve contracts and related legal documentation.
- Conduct exchanges of contracts and completions.
- Ensure all transactions are progressed efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate and compliant file management throughout each matter.
- Client Care
- Deliver clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
- Provide a consistently high standard of client service.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and key stakeholders.
- Manage client expectations effectively throughout the transaction process.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional obligations, including:
- Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations
- GDPR and data protection requirements
- Internal policies and procedures
- Undertake client due diligence and identity verification procedures.
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks.
- Ensure undertakings are appropriately managed and fulfilled. Maintain accurate file records and audit standards.
- Business Development
- Actively contribute to the growth of the Residential Property Department.
- Develop and maintain relationships with estate agents, mortgage brokers, financial advisers and other referrers.
- Participate in networking and marketing initiatives.
- Promote the firm's services and reputation within the local market and wider business community.
- Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to encourage cross-referrals and exemplar client service.
- Support the development of junior fee earners, trainees and support staff where required.
- Share knowledge and best practice within the team.
- Contribute positively to departmental and firm-wide objectives.
- THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales with a current practising certificate with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience and no SRA sanctions.
- Demonstrable experience in Residential Conveyancing.
- Proven ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical knowledge of residential property law and conveyancing procedures.
- Excellent client care and relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercially aware with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Experience supervising junior team members.
- Existing referrer and professional contact network.
- Experience working with case management systems.
- Experience within a CQS-accredited practice.
