We’re looking for a trainee or part qualified accountant to join our FRAV team in York, Leeds or Sheffield.

This role offers something a little bit different from the norm. If you're inquisitive, analytical and enjoy technical complexity, this could be the move you're looking for. Joining our Financial Reporting & Valuations (FRAV) team gives you the opportunity to work beyond the basics. You’ll tackle intellectually rewarding work, advise on high-impact financial issues, and collaborate directly with clients and senior stakeholders on important projects. This role offers a rare mix of technical depth and commercial insight. From listed companies to fast-growing private businesses, you'll help solve complex accounting challenges, support key strategic decisions, and build a niche skill set early in your career.

The Role

  • Supporting the preparation of group financial statements, including those for listed companies – balancing technical rigour with practical project management.
  • Advising on complex accounting matters, including share-based payments and financial instruments.
  • Writing technical accounting papers and delivering audit support projects.
  • Contributing to IFRS conversion projects and supporting IPO readiness work.
  • Assisting with valuation work, such as share option valuations and purchase price allocations – from research and modelling through to drafting reports.
  • Supporting the team and wider firm with the implementation of the FRS 102 triennial review.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • A well-established grounding in audit or accounts preparation.
  • A natural curiosity for accounting and business – you enjoy solving problems and want to understand why something works, not just how.
  • Clear communication skills, to explain complex matters in a way clients understand.
  • A team player mentality, happy to roll up your sleeves to support colleagues when needed.

Whilst not essential, it would be great if you have:

  • Some experience of project-based work.
  • Familiarity with valuations or financial modelling.
  • An interest in listed company environments or strategic advisory projects.

Benefits

  • Discretionary, performance related annual bonus.
  • 22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
  • Pension contributions of 5.3% when you contribute 3.2% with further benefits when opting into our salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Healthcare cash plan.
  • Life cover of 3 x salary.
  • Opportunities for career development and professional growth, including study support.
  • Paid volunteer days.
