We are now seeking a highly organised Transport Co‑ordinator to support the smooth, safe, and compliant movement of materials and fabricated steel. This is a key role within the Transport Department, providing essential administrative and coordination support.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Transport Department and wider team as required.
  • Maintain and update transport records, including delivery documentation, driver files, and compliance paperwork.
  • Scheduling and coordination of deliveries and collections in line with site requirements.
  • Liaise with project managers regularly to confirm site dates, delivery schedules, and program changes.
  • Maintain detailed records including driver hours, vehicle servicing and maintenance schedules, fuel logs, and compliance reports.
  • Support route planning and communicate delivery schedules to drivers and site teams.
  • Ensure all transport documentation is completed accurately, and in line with DVSA and company standards.
  • Support FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) compliance by maintaining accurate records and assisting with audits and accreditation requirements.
  • Process and organise delivery paperwork, load documentation, and associated transport records.
  • Proactively use initiative to review and improve transport systems, reporting methods, and administrative processes in conjunction with the Transport Manager, supporting continuous operational improvement.
  • Liaise with drivers, subcontractors, customers, and internal departments to resolve queries promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, mileage, incidents, and other transport‑related data.
  • Assist in arranging vehicle bookings, inspections, servicing, and repairs where required.
  • Support driver inductions and maintain training and certification records.
  • Deliver Toolbox talks as and when necessary.
  • Prepare and manage documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Assist in organising paperwork for vehicle loading, escorted loads, and steel lotting information.
  • Manage incoming calls and emails relating to transport operations in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support customer query resolution and assist with complaint handling, where required.
  • Maintain high standards of organisation within the transport office and yard environment.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with safe working practices and all health and safety policies, procedures, and legislation across all staff.
  • Provide cover for the Transport Manager as and when required.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with database or logistics software.
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, confident liaising with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
  • Knowledge of transport / logistics processes or experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Flexible, hardworking team‑player with a pro‑active attitude.
