We are currently looking to recruit a reliable General Maintenance/Yard Operative to join our team at our busy steel fabrication company.

The main purpose of the role is to support the efficient operation of the site by carrying out general maintenance duties and keeping the grounds, yard and surrounding areas clean, tidy, safe and well maintained. The successful candidate will ensure that the site is presented to a high standard.

Key Duties Include:

• General upkeep and maintenance of the site, yard and grounds.
• Keeping work areas, access routes and storage areas clean and tidy.
• Sweeping, litter picking and carrying out general housekeeping around the facility.
• Maintaining and organising external storage and yard areas.
• Undertaking basic repairs and general maintenance as required.
• Carrying out painting, touch-ups and minor building and grounds maintenance.
• Keeping weeds, vegetation and general overgrowth under control.
• Assisting with waste, scrap and material management.
• Helping to maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Supporting the fabrication team with general duties when required.
• Reporting any maintenance issues, hazards or defects to management.
• Operate and maintain biomass boiler systems to ensure reliable heat and energy production.
• Load and replenish woodchip fuel supplies to maintain continuous boiler operation.

Skills and Experience:

• A Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence would be advantageous, with experience or operating forklifts in a yard environment.
• Practical, hardworking and willing to take on a hands-on approach.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work on their own initiative.
• Well organised, with a good eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience in general maintenance, grounds maintenance, yard operations or a similar environment.
• Health & safety conscious with an understanding of safe working practices.
• Able to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Positive attitude with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to assist with a variety of duties as required.

This is a full-time, workshop based role in Carnwath, South Lanarkshire.
