We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed GP to join our friendly and supportive team at Bharani Medical Centre in Slough. Caring for around 18,000 patients across three sites, we are a well-established practice with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. This role offers flexibility 4-8 sessions, competitive salary, NHS pension, and generous annual leave. Main duties of the job

  • You will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care as part of our clinical team, seeing a mix of acute, chronic, and preventative presentations. A typical session includes consultations, reviewing results, prescribing, and associated admin.
  • In addition to direct patient care, you may contribute to clinical governance, support teaching and supervision of other team members, and engage with wider PCN initiatives.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide general medical services to registered patients, including consultations, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Undertake telephone, video, and face-to-face consultations as appropriate.
  • Participate in on-the-day access arrangements in a supportive and fair duty system.
  • Provide home visits where clinically necessary.
  • Review and action test results, hospital correspondence, and patient queries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records using EMIS and other digital systems (Anima, AccuRx, Docman).
  • Support continuity of care for patients with complex or long-term conditions.
  • Prescribe safely, cost-effectively, and in line with clinical guidelines.
  • Contribute to repeat prescribing reviews and medicines optimisation initiatives.
  • Work closely with the practice pharmacist team on medication reviews and patient education.
  • Adhere to all clinical governance processes and contribute to quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in audits, significant event reviews, and clinical meetings.
  • Support the practice in achieving QOF, IIF, and other contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in line with practice and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in the practice's protected learning time sessions.
  • Access one half-day per month for CPD through the STEPS programme, supported and funded by the local ICB.
  • Engage in appraisal and revalidation activities.
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of medical students, clinical pharmacists, or other learners if appropriate.
  • Work closely with GP partners, salaried GPs, ANPs, pharmacists, first-contact physios, and the wider clinical and administrative team.
  • Attend practice meetings, contributing to shared decision-making and service development.
  • Support practice initiatives that improve patient care, reduce health inequalities, or enhance efficiency.
  • Engage in PCN-level work where relevant (e.g., shared services, enhanced access, population health management projects).

Person Specification

  • Experience in primary care during training or post-CCT.
  • Experience in managing acute chronic and preventive care presentations.
  • Experience in prescribing safely and cost-effectively.
  • Awareness of clinical governance safeguarding and QOF requirements.
  • Previous experience as a salaried GP or locum in a primary care setting.
  • Experience in service improvement projects or clinical audits.
  • Experience in teaching training or supervision of other health professionals.
  • Participation in PCN or system-level initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified medical practitioner with GMC registration.
  • MRCGP or equivalent if qualified overseas.
  • Inclusion or eligible for inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development CPD.
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications e.g. Diploma in Women's Health, Child Health, Minor Surgery.
  • Evidence of leadership or teaching qualifications.
