BH Live is recruiting for Casual Recreation Assistants to join our busy team at the Mountbatten Centre. Located in Hilsea, a five‑minute drive from Portsmouth city centre, the Mountbatten Centre offers high‑quality fitness facilities including a cardio zone, free weights, functional fitness, group cycle studio, sports hall, running track, swimming pool and a spa.
We are ideally looking for someone who already holds an NPLQ qualification; if you haven’t, BH Live can support you with a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification & training (subject to a successful interview and swim test). The training runs from Friday 26th June to Tuesday 30th June 2026, 8 am – 4:30 pm every day. Attendance for all five days is required.
Responsibilities- Work poolside
- Serve as a point of contact for customers
- Vigilantly ensure customer safety
- Erect, dismantle, and move equipment
- Clean the centre and equipment
- Valid NPLQ qualification (or willingness to obtain it)
- Satisfactory DBS clearance
- Confident swimmer
- Calm under pressure with good initiative
- Ability to concentrate whilst working poolside
- Great customer service skills
