The role: BH Live is recruiting for a Recreation Assistant to join our Recreation Team at BH Live Active Littledown. You will work 34.5 hours per week on a rota basis aligned to the centre's opening hours. We are ideally looking for someone who already holds an NPLQ qualification but if you haven’t, BH Live can help support you with your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification & training (subject to a successful interview and swim test). This is a nationally recognised qualification and will supply you with lifelong skills, such as self-confidence, teamwork as well as the ability to save lives.

Littledown is ranked among the top performing leisure centres in the UK, is accredited by quality scheme QUEST and is a National Fitness Award winner for the Local Authority/Leisure Trust Gym of the Year and finalist for the Best Group Exercise Gym of the Year. It has more than 1.2 million attendances a year and is home to clubs including BH Live’s Swimming Academy and Swim Bournemouth, facilities include 25-metre and 17-metre swimming pools for lane swimming, public swimming sessions, pool-based classes and lessons. There is also a splash pool, steam room and sauna.

You will:

  • Work poolside and be the main point of contact for our customers.
  • Ensure our customers are kept safe and comply with the centre rules.
  • Erect, dismantle and move equipment.
  • Clean the centre and equipment.
  • Be vigilant and supervise people who are using the pool and centre facilities.

You will need:

  • Your NPLQ qualification
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance
  • Be a confident swimmer
  • To keep calm under pressure and have good initiative
  • The ability to concentrate whilst working poolside
  • Great customer service skills

Due to the nature of our business hours of work will include weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
