Day Supervisor Location: Bloomberg Building Salary: Competitive + Benefits About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Day Supervisor to support the Operations Manager and wider engineering team within the Bloomberg contract. The successful candidate will ensure operational and compliance standards are consistently achieved and exceeded while supporting the day-to-day maintenance activities across the site.

This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical plant systems and public health strategies, alongside the ability to supervise engineering teams, support projects, and contribute to the continuous improvement of BGIS operating systems and procedures.

The position combines both hands-on engineering responsibilities and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Operations Manager with technical supervision to ensure all service commitments are met.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring statutory and code compliance across the site.
  • Ensure risk management processes are consistently applied.
  • Supervise and participate in daily maintenance activities undertaken by the Day Team.
  • Manage and mentor members of the Day Team, including apprentices.
  • Work closely with the Shift Supervisor to coordinate engineering activities.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team and implement action plans.
  • Act as Mechanical Appointed Person (AP level).
  • Manage maintenance stock levels and ensure availability of critical spares.
  • Maintain and update mechanical SSOWs, SOPs, and EOPs.
  • Provide technical support to site teams and stakeholders.
  • Support annual maintenance planning and impact assessments.
  • Liaise with the Bloomberg Workplace Engineering Team.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance and project activities impacting MEP infrastructure.
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis investigations following operational incidents.
  • Attend operational and client meetings as required.
  • Support implementation of BGIS management systems and processes.
  • Escalate contractual concerns to senior management where required.
  • Assist with management of specialist subcontractors.
  • Manage Mechanical Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) processes and permits.
  • Promote energy management initiatives across the site.
  • Champion BGIS values and customer service excellence.
Reporting Structure
  • Reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the BGIS site engineering team.
Qualifications & Knowledge Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (minimum).
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Chillers
    • Cooling towers
    • Closed water systems
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Safe isolation procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT and computer literacy.
Desirable
  • HNC in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • Controls systems
    • Safety circuits
    • Lighting controls
Experience Essential
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a hard services environment.
  • Strong technical experience across commercial mechanical and electrical building services.
Desirable
  • Experience delivering wider facilities management services.
  • Experience managing, developing and appraising teams.
  • Demonstrable people management capability.

Additional Requirements
  • Occasional travel may be required to support operational delivery, training, and business reviews.
  • Some overnight stays may be necessary.
  • Out-of-hours attendance will be required to supervise planned maintenance activities and projects.
