BGIS is recruiting for a Day Shift Engineer to join our team on a prestigious critical site in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all environmental and building conditions are consistently maintained across critical mechanical and electrical systems. This role involves delivering planned and reactive maintenance, monitoring critical infrastructure, overseeing subcontractors, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of all site plant and equipment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical and electrical plant in line with site schedules and asset registers
- Respond to reactive maintenance tasks and breakdowns across building systems and fabric-related issues
- Monitor and maintain BMS-controlled systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions
- Diagnose faults across HVAC, UPS, generators, LV systems and associated plant
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure all works are completed safely and in line with site procedures
- Operate Permit to Work and LOTO systems in accordance with BGIS and client requirements
- Ensure plant faults and defects are resolved efficiently to maintain operational performance
- Maintain accurate records via CAFM systems such as Maximo and complete all required documentation
- Prepare and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all maintenance activities
- Maintain plant rooms and engineering areas in a clean, secure and professional condition
- Produce detailed shift reports and support site compliance reporting processes
- Ensure compliance with site KPIs, SLAs and Health & Safety standards at all times
- Support continuous improvement and contribute positively within the engineering team
Knowledge & Skills
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 qualified in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems
- Experience fault-finding on HVAC, UPS, generators and LV infrastructure
- Familiar with BMS systems and interpreting alarm and graphical data
- Experience using CAFM platforms such as Maximo
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including Permit to Work and LOTO systems
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Able to work independently and within a shift engineering team
- Comfortable working within plant environments and at heights where required
