The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing, solutioning, and closing new business opportunities, and retaining existing customer accounts, that are sold at a price to deliver the customers’ requirements without compromising our quality service within target market sectors. The BDM must excel at building relationships and creating positive impressions with potential customers in regards to themselves and BGIS.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- To lead a variety of FM bids to meet and exceed agreed sales targets within the target markets agreed by the VP – Client Solutions, UK & Europe.
- To develop and build long-term professional customer relationships with existing and potential clients in target verticals.
- Meet and exceed defined sales targets for the UK basis in each fiscal year.
- Maintain excellent relationships and after sales support to build mutual confidence in line with the agreed business strategy.
- To identify and build a long-term active pipeline, exploring both existing markets and targeting new market opportunities.
- Full sales spectrum ownership from SQ, RFI, RFP and presentation stages.
- Creation of pitch documentation using BGIS standard word, excel and PowerPoint deck.
- Work collaboratively with the Client Solutions team in both the UK and Globally.
- Engage regularly with Marketing to ensure the Client and Solutions team are joined up and operating in a collaborative manner.
- Use innovative means to develop new sources of profitable business.
- Raise the company and business profile by representing BGIS at industry events, social media, high level networking, and promoting an image of professionalism at all times.
- Keep up-to-date with industry developments, maintaining awareness of competitor activity and market trends.
- Liaise regularly with the VP – Client Solutions, UK & Europe to ensure they are fully updated on all sales activities and potential new business opportunities.
- Ensure that appropriate signoffs are adhered to when considering new business opportunities.
- Maintain records and relevant contract documentation in the support of tenders and re-bids for the Business.
- Deal promptly and professionally with all pre-qualifications.
- Support retention and business improvement requirements for the existing customer base.
Person Specification
Education [Essential]
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be detail conscious and methodical in approach.
- Good basic education.
- Full proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Education [Desirable]
- Higher educational qualifications to HNC/D or degree level.
- Professional Sales or marketing accreditation.
Experience [Essential]
- Driven by targets and comfortable in a high-pressure sales environment.
- Must be detail conscious and methodical in approach.
- Minimum 5 years professional sales experience.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM system.
Experience [Desirable]
- 5+ years Hard FM sales experience.
- FM related professional membership.
