BGIS is recruiting for a Junior Technician to join our engineering team supporting a high-profile critical environment in London.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship or holds a Level 3 trade qualification and is looking to further develop their career within building services and critical environments.

The Role

  • You will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault‑finding across a range of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to critical infrastructure including HVAC, UPS systems, generators, LV systems and BMS operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across M&E systems.
  • Support fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical plant.
  • Monitor building systems and environmental conditions via BMS.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Support contractor management and supervise specialist subcontractors on site.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and update CAFM systems accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit to Work, LOTO and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Maintain plant rooms and engineering areas to a high standard.
  • Support continuous improvement and personal development towards becoming a fully experienced technician.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within building services or completion of a structured apprenticeship.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work within a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
  • Flexible approach to work and team support.

Desirable

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Legionella / L8 Awareness.
  • Experience using CAFM systems such as Maximo.
