BGIS is recruiting for a Junior Technician to join our engineering team supporting a high-profile critical environment in London.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship or holds a Level 3 trade qualification and is looking to further develop their career within building services and critical environments.
The Role
- You will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault‑finding across a range of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to critical infrastructure including HVAC, UPS systems, generators, LV systems and BMS operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across M&E systems.
- Support fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical plant.
- Monitor building systems and environmental conditions via BMS.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
- Support contractor management and supervise specialist subcontractors on site.
- Complete maintenance documentation and update CAFM systems accurately.
- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work, LOTO and Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain plant rooms and engineering areas to a high standard.
- Support continuous improvement and personal development towards becoming a fully experienced technician.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Previous experience within building services or completion of a structured apprenticeship.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Able to work within a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
- Flexible approach to work and team support.
Desirable
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Legionella / L8 Awareness.
- Experience using CAFM systems such as Maximo.
