We are seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer to provide leadership, management, and development to a defined engineering team. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements. You will act as the key liaison between the client, internal teams, and senior management, driving performance and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, ensuring operational commitments and KPIs are consistently met or exceeded.
- Act as the on-site HV/LV Authorised Person (when qualified and on shift).
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including Permit to Work and LOTO systems.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to RAMS and safe working practices.
- Conduct annual appraisals for shift technicians following BGIS training protocols.
- Maintain and update the Computer-Based Maintenance System (e.g., Maximo, Concept), ensuring accurate data capture and ticket closure.
- Collaborate with the Area Contract Manager to maintain high service levels and support Contract Support in achieving customer satisfaction.
- Ensure statutory and code compliance across all sites, including accurate asset registers and labelling.
- Plan and manage PPM schedules in line with manufacturer guidelines and contractual obligations.
- Provide technical support to engineers, helpdesk, and clients, and investigate major operational incidents.
- Attend and oversee all callouts, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture across the team.
- Assist engineers with PPM tasks and maintain regular communication with the engineering team.
- Ensure weekly tasks are completed and support reporting requirements.
- Monitor customer service levels, uniform standards, and third-party contract work quality.
- Escalate any quoted works not approved that may impact business operations.
- Act as the first point of contact for shift issues and mechanical incident escalations.
- Produce and distribute weekly operational reports in conjunction with the Area Contract Manager.
- Carry out any reasonable management requests as required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience in a building services or facilities maintenance environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- HV/LV Authorised Person certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent understanding of statutory compliance and H&S regulations.
- Experience with CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo, Concept).
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Technical expertise in mechanical/electrical systems, including chillers, combustion, and HVAC.
