We are seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer to provide leadership, management, and ongoing development to a defined engineering team. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and full compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements. You will act as the key liaison between the client, internal teams, and senior management while driving performance and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, ensuring operational commitments and KPIs are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations, including Permit to Work and LOTO procedures.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to RAMS and safe working practices.
- Conduct annual appraisals for shift technicians in line with BGIS training protocols.
- Maintain and update the CAFM system (such as Maximo or Concept) with accurate data and ticket closure.
- Work with the Area Contract Manager to maintain high service levels and support Contract Support with customer satisfaction.
- Ensure statutory and code compliance, including asset register accuracy and correct equipment labelling.
- Plan and manage PPM schedules in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and contractual requirements.
- Provide technical support to engineers, the helpdesk, and clients.
- Investigate major operational incidents and ensure timely resolution.
- Attend and oversee callouts when required.
- Promote strong Health & Safety culture across the engineering team.
- Assist engineers with PPM tasks and maintain regular communication across the team.
- Ensure weekly tasks are completed and support reporting activities.
- Monitor customer service standards, uniform compliance, and the quality of third-party contractor work.
- Escalate unapproved quoted works that may impact business performance or safety.
- Act as first point of contact for shift issues and mechanical incident escalation.
- Produce and distribute weekly operational reports with the Area Contract Manager.
- Carry out any reasonable requests made by management.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience in a building services or facilities maintenance environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- HV/LV Authorised Person certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and Health & Safety regulations.
- Experience with CAFM systems such as Maximo or Concept.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including chillers, combustion, and HVAC.
