LV Design Engineer

Job Summary: LV Design Engineer responsible for designing hardware systems for LV assemblies, interpreting client drawings, supporting functional testing, leads factory acceptance testing, and working with project managers, workshop staff, and client representatives while maintaining safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Where will you be working?
At BGEN, one of the UK\’s largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors, supporting clients in water, power, pharmaceutical, nuclear, and food & beverage industries.
What will you be doing?
You will be designing hardware systems for LV assemblies, working with trusted components like ACBs, MCCBs, MCBs, fuses, transformers, relays, VSDs, PLCs, and ICA systems.
You will interpret client drawings and specifications, turning them into schematics, layouts, and arrangements that meet safety, quality, and engineering standards.
You will support functional testing, complete inspection documentation, and ensure compliance with BSEN 61439 & ISO9001.
You will lead factory acceptance testing and collaborate with project managers, workshop staff, and client representatives while maintaining strong relationships and prioritizing health, safety, and customer satisfaction.
What you\’ll bring
- Completed Electrical & Electronic Engineering apprenticeship; HNC/HND or equivalent, BEng preferred.
- IET membership and EngTech/IEng registration desirable.
- C&G BS 7671 (18th Edition) and C&G 2391 preferred.
- Strong knowledge of motor starters, relay logic, PLCs, and industrial communication networks.
- Skilled in electrical distribution, protection, earthing, and automation systems.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Promis‑E, and EPLAN.
- Familiar with BS EN 61439-2, BS EN 60947, cable sizing, voltage drop, derating, fault‑levels, short‑circuit strength, power loss, heat dissipation, and temperature‑rise limits.
- Understanding of product conformity (UKCA/CE Marking) and ISO9001 QA systems.
