Where will you be working?
BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
What will you be doing?
The Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Designer/Engineer plays a key role in helping deliver safe, reliable systems for BGEN within the turbine halls at Hinkley Point C. Working closely with a wide range of engineering and construction teams, you will help shape detailed design packages, support installation, and keep the project aligned with UK nuclear safety standards. Your work will guide the project from early design through commissioning and final handover. You will develop and review I&C documents such as hook-up drawings, carry out technical assessments, and make sure every design meets regulatory and project requirements. You will prepare material take-offs, equipment schedules, and procurement details, while keeping documentation accurate and up to date. Day-to-day, you will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, civil, and control specialists, respond to technical queries, and support construction teams on site. You will also work with suppliers and the client to ensure smooth integration and successful delivery of all I&C systems.
What you will bring:
- Strong background in I&C design within nuclear, power, or other regulated industries
- Knowledge of safety-related and field instrumentation
- Comfortable using tools such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, or Aveva E&I
- Degree or HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline
- Professional membership (IET, InstMC) is a bonus
- Experience on nuclear-licensed sites is highly valued
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to nuclear safety
- Familiarity with EPCC lifecycles, configuration control, and nuclear QA processes
