JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Swiss Lathe Programmer is responsible for programming multi-axis Swiss-style lathes. This position involves creating and optimizing CNC programs, assisting in machine setups, and providing technical and operational support to ensure uninterrupted production schedules. The role works in close cooperation with Lead personnel, setup personnel, and shop supervisors to assure the production of high-quality machined components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and/or optimize CNC programs for Star and Tsugami Swiss-style lathes utilizing Esprit CAM software.
- Program from blueprint to first article, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform time studies and provide estimated cycle times to Technical sales and Engineering as needed.
- Provide technical support to Lead personnel and setup personnel, including training on setups, program changes, and assisting in resolving problems to avoid production delays.
- Identify inefficiencies and collaborate to improve machine operations. Verify first articles and ensure production parts meet specifications.
- Support Quality Control teams by identifying and resolving machining-related issues. Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, setup sheets, and process improvements. Set a positive professional example for machine operators.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- Minimum 5 years experience working as a CNC Swiss Lathe Programmer from blueprint to first article. Minimum 2 years Esprit software experience.
- CNC skills required include blueprint reading, setup, tooling, troubleshooting, and multi-axis programming.
- Experience with Quality Control testing equipment.
- Experience training CNC Swiss lathe programming and troubleshooting skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Combination of Office & Shop environments. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Ability to position self to move, install/take out, adjust, position, measure, and handle materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
