West of Scotland with travel | Great career opportunity | truly negotiable salary

I am retained by a growing specialist contractor that is looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the numbers behind their projects and help make sure their good work translates into healthy margins. This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the action: working with live contracts, pricing new opportunities, and helping the business make sound commercial decisions. It will suit a QS who is ready to have more influence than is often possible in a larger, structured organisation.

You’ll be involved from early pricing and tenders through to final account, making sure that costs, value and risk are understood and managed along the way. The work spans safety-critical projects, refurbishment and fit-out, and manufactured components that need careful measurement and costing rather than broad estimates.

Day to day, you will:

  • Develop and manage pricing for tenders and new work
  • Track project costs, valuations, variations and commercial performance
  • Keep a close eye on margin, risk and cash flow across live contracts
  • Administer contracts and support negotiations with clients and suppliers
  • Build effective working relationships with project and delivery teams

I’m interested in people who:

  • Are qualified as a Quantity Surveyor and comfortable taking commercial responsibility
  • Have experience working with building projects in occupied or regulated environments
  • Have experience of a range of NEC and SBCC contracts
  • Understand the commercial realities of specialist subcontract packages and manufactured elements
  • Are confident with cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and variation management
  • Enjoy working closely with directors and project leads in a small, ambitious business
  • Able to contribute to the growth and direction of the company

I’m open-minded about your detailed background. Experience in public buildings, safety-related works, specialist joinery or fire-related scopes would be useful, but what matters most is that you bring solid QS skills, sound judgement and the appetite to help the business grow.

Salary will reflect your experience and the contribution you can make. If you’d like to have more impact and be part of a team where your commercial insight really matters, I’ll be pleased to hear from you.
