Sport is a cornerstone of military life and this role offers a unique opportunity to get inside this special world. The ideal candidate will be able to turn their hand to most sports and enjoy covering elite level to grassroots. You will also thrive in live broadcasting as well as enjoying storytelling and social media content creation, and have a strong on-screen presence. The team is small, so flexibility and a can-do attitude are a must. BFBS Sport broadcasts on radio, digital video platforms and BFBS’s TV channels for the British military.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- Filming, editing and producing sport stories in video
- Filming and producing social media posts
- Growing a network of contacts to unearth stories and features
- Writing sharp and concise stories for forcesnews.com
- Working with colleagues on live broadcasts
- Commentating on live sport
- Taking the lead on live events to coordinate with venues and organisers
What we’re looking for from you:
- You’ll have knowledge of a wide range of sport
- Experience of filming and editing video and of content creation for social media platforms
- You’ll be brilliant at ideas generation, both for stories and treatments
- You’ll have an enthusiasm to try new techniques and have the confidence to deliver content to deadline
- You’ll have excellent personal skills and be a strong team player, with the ability to organise yourself and communicate clearly with others
- It would be a bonus if you have experience of commentating on live sport events, and an understanding of how to grow a social media audience.
- We don’t expect you to be an expert in the British military but an interest in the Armed Forces is a must.
