Social Media Producer

Full-Time No working from home possible

Join the fast‑paced, creative social media team at BFBS Forces News — the leading destination for military news and stories that matter. We’re growing quickly, and this is your chance to help shape how a highly engaged, passionate audience connects with the Forces community across digital platforms.

You don’t have to be a defence expert — what matters is curiosity, confidence, and a genuine eagerness to understand what makes our audience tick. As a Social Media Producer, you’ll bring fresh perspective to our standout video journalism and written stories, helping them reach further and resonate deeper.

You’ll be part of a wider newsroom packed with specialist reporters, producers, and storytellers. There is never a shortage of powerful, human stories — and you’ll be right at the centre of bringing them to life online.

What you’ll be doing

  • Daily publishing across our social platforms, showcasing our strongest stories and ensuring they reach the audiences who care most.
  • Creating on‑the‑ground content at major events — from the Inter‑Services Rugby Championships to the BFBS Pro League and beyond.
  • Spotting opportunities to elevate our journalism with smart social treatments, fresh angles, and platform‑specific creativity.
  • Helping expand our reach, shaping how BFBS Forces News and Sport continues to grow across multiple digital channels.

This is a role for someone who loves storytelling, thrives in a busy newsroom, and wants to make an impact in a community that values authenticity, service, and connection.

This role is hybrid working that will include at least two days a week in our head office in Chalfont St Peter. Working hours will generally be Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, but occasionally may require evening or weekend working as the news agenda dictates.

Are you a self-starter with the ability to work in a team? Are you enthusiastic and can demonstrate extensive knowledge of social media platforms? Do you have a flair for creative thinking? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this could be the job for you.

Use of AI

We strongly encourage you to prepare your application in your own words and, wherever reasonably possible, without using generative AI to create or substantially rewrite this. We're interested in reading about your own experience, knowledge and skills, and your ability to communicate clearly. However, if you need to use AI or other assistive technology as a reasonable adjustment to enable you to participate in our recruitment process, you are welcome to do so and this will not disadvantage your application.

You must be able to demonstrate current eligibility to work in the UK. We're unable to provide employer visa sponsorship.
