Audio Producer (Podcasts and Imaging)

Do you love making audio that stops people in their tracks? So do we. At BFBS, The Forces Station, we’re looking for an Audio Producer who gets excited by great storytelling, creative production and making radio sound incredible for the best audience out there! Our mission? To entertain, inform, connect and champion serving British Forces personnel and their families, with trusted, creative media experiences.

You’ll work across two exciting areas - creating original podcasts and producing outstanding station sound for our 20+ live radio stations. One day you could be crafting an immersive narrative podcast, the next producing imaging, promos and creative audio that gives our stations their strong personality.

We’re looking for someone who’s curious, creative and full of ideas; someone who enjoys trying new things, embraces change and wants to help us keep pushing our audio forward and help to shape the future of BFBS; someone looking to take the next step on their career journey, who is eager to grow and develop with us. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent.

What you’ll be doing:

• Producing regular podcast strands, and developing ideas for new titles
• Editing and mixing regular speech output for the radio network
• Creating station imaging, promos, beds and other creative audio for our music stations
• Working closely with production teams and our presenters in the UK and around the world to bring great ideas to life
• Helping us continue to evolve the sound of BFBS across radio and podcasts

Who we're looking for:

This isn't an entry-level role, but you don't need decades in the audio industry either. If you've already built some solid production experience, have a great ear for audio and are ready to take the next step, we'd love to hear from you. We're interested in creativity, curiosity and a willingness to grow.

You will have:

• A growing track record of producing high quality, broadcast- and podcast-ready speech content
• Experience of producing creative station sound elements for music radio stations, such as imaging, beds and promotions
• Passionate enthusiasm about creative audio production, and an aptitude for telling impactful stories with audio using interviews, soundscapes and music
• A keen editorial mind, with experience making challenging editorial decisions; your job will be to shape and structure programmes, not just to mix and master them
• Excellent editing and mixing skills, particularly using Adobe Audition
• Great organisational skills, including experience of working to tight deadlines
• An ability to communicate with stakeholders of all levels, including training and supporting other colleagues

We believe great work happens both together and independently. This role is hybrid, and being part of the team in-person is important. You'll need to be able to work from our Buckinghamshire studios for a minimum of two days each week. If that isn't something you can commit to, this role won't be the right fit.
