BFB Labs is a sector-leading social enterprise bringing together clinical excellence and digital technologies to enable better youth mental health.

The Role

We’re looking for a sharp, persuasive, and detail-oriented Bid Writer to help us scale our impact. This isn't just about filling out forms; it’s about translating complex clinical evidence and innovative technology into compelling narratives that win over public sector commissioners. You will be the architect of our proposals, navigating the intricate procurement processes of the NHS, local government, and community providers to ensure our digital mental health solutions reach the young people who need them most.

Responsibilities

  • Crafting Winning Narratives: You’ll lead the end-to-end bid process, drafting high-quality, persuasive content that aligns BFB Labs’ mission with the specific strategic goals of Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, and VCSEs. You’ll go beyond technical specs to articulate our 'social value' - demonstrating how our interventions reduce health inequalities and deliver long-term savings for the public purse.
  • Managing the Bid Lifecycle: You’ll monitor procurement portals (e.g., Find a Tender, Contracts Finder) to identify high-potential opportunities that align with our growth strategy. You’ll 'run the room' during the bid process, coordinating inputs from clinical, product, and leadership teams to ensure every submission is cohesive, compliant, and submitted ahead of the buzzer. You’ll ensure all bids meet rigorous procurement rules, governance, clinical safety (DCB0129/0160), and data protection (DTAC) standards required by the NHS.
  • Knowledge & Asset Building: You’ll develop and maintain a sophisticated 'bid library' of evidence-based responses, case studies, and data points, ensuring our collective knowledge is always at your fingertips. You’ll lead the post-submission review process, deconstructing feedback from won and lost bids to constantly refine our approach and increase our win rate.
  • Connecting the Dots: You’ll work closely with our clinical and data teams to turn academic research and real-world evidence into easy-to-digest arguments for commissioners. You’ll assist our Service Growth Leads in tailoring proposals to specific regional needs, ensuring our 'pitch' feels local and relevant every time.

What we’re looking for

  • A Precision Communicator: You have a gift for the written word. You can take a complex clinical concept and turn it into a crystal-clear, persuasive paragraph that resonates with busy commissioners, procurement officers, and other evaluators.
  • Public Sector Savvy: You understand how the NHS and local government buy. You’re familiar with frameworks, DPS agreements, and the nuances of public sector scoring criteria.
  • A Strategic Thinker: You don’t just answer the question; you read between the lines of a tender document to understand the buyer’s underlying pain points.
  • Resilient & Detail-Obsessed: You thrive under the pressure of deadlines. You have a 'get it done' attitude and an eagle eye for detail - typos and missed requirements aren't in your vocabulary.

Diversity

As a diverse team we are keen to receive applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, and types of formal or informal education. We encourage applications from all across the UK. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Great things about working here

  • Female-led and diverse company
  • Driven, go-getting and values-based culture
  • NICE recommended products
  • Multi-award winning company featured in national media
  • Backed by the NHS, Innovate UK, and partnerships with NIHR funded collaborative centres

What we offer

  • Flexible working arrangements for agreed number of hours.
  • Hybrid working with access to our workspace in Farringdon (Central London). This is not a fully remote role. Office attendance is expected and the number of days in each month can be negotiated.
  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum on a full-time basis (dependent on experience)
