We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a qualified or part‑qualified (ACA or ACCA) accountant who is keen to complete their accountancy training while developing their career within a supportive and forward‑thinking environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day‑to‑day finance function, contribute to month‑end reporting, and take ownership of credit control decisions, while working closely with the wider finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Finance Operations
    • Maintain accurate financial records and support general ledger activities
    • Perform daily bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and investigated where required
    • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, cash allocation, and chasing outstanding debts
    • Take ownership of customer credit decisions, including assessing creditworthiness and setting limits
    • Monitor customer accounts and proactively manage credit risk
    • Work closely with stakeholders to resolve payment issues and maintain strong relationships
  • Month‑End & Reporting
    • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs, providing analysis and commentary where required
    • Assist with accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Completion of required compliance (ONS, VAT, HMRC etc)
    • Work closely with other finance team members to ensure efficient and accurate financial processes
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
    • Assist with audit requirements and documentation as needed
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    • Practice trained ACA/ACCA qualified or part‑qualified experience, with a strong desire to complete professional training
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
    • Proficient in the use of financial software and Excel (intermediate to advanced)
    • A mindset of continuous improvement, with enthusiasm for innovation and process enhancement
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
    • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
    • Knowledge of Sage 200 financial system
    • Exposure to manufacturing accounting
