Responsible for developing high-reliability electronic hardware for safety-critical and performance-driven applications, collaborating closely with embedded software and product engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Electronics Design & Development

  • Design and development of bf1systems products, ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements, specifications, and legislation (including ESG expectations).
  • Drive the selection, integration, and validation of electronic components, with a focus on reliability and performance in harsh environments.
  • End-to-end electronic system design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and validation.
  • Design and develop hardware, including RF circuits, power management, and signal conditioning.

Product Lifecycle Support

  • Maintain and support existing electronic designs, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Lead and support projects through APQP processes, including FMEA reviews and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure DFM/DFT and smooth transition to production.

Testing, Validation & Documentation

  • Develop Design Verification Plans (DVP) for hardware validation, including bench and vehicle-level testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet technical and compliance specifications.
  • Write clear, concise technical reports for investigations, testing outcomes, and engineering reviews.
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the design and development process, adhering to company standards.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate and resolve hardware-related issues, including production customer and concerns.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process and product improvements.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in training and development activities aligned with personal, departmental, and company objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience with sensor development, integration, and testing in automotive or motorsport applications.
  • Extensive experience in electronic circuit design, analysis, and troubleshooting (analogue and digital), including transceiver level design for CAN/CANFD.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using industry standard design tools.
  • Ability to produce accurate technical documentation and detailed investigative reports.
  • Minimum BEng in Electronics Engineering or equivalent appropriate qualification.
  • An understanding of RF design (433MHz, 2.4GHz) and EMC/EMI considerations and mitigation in hardware.
  • Ability to perform fault diagnosis to component level and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) in electronics.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools, advanced PCB technologies (e.g., Flex, Rigid/Flex, HDI) and data acquisition systems in motorsport or automotive environments.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and understand complex data sets.
  • Familiarity with embedded software as it relates to hardware integration and validation.

Preferred Requirements & Experience

  • Evidence of working closely with technical experts in software and systems disciplines.
  • Hands-on approach with attention to detail in a technically challenging environment.
  • Exposure to embedded software design and development is an advantage.
  • Motorsports/Automotive industry experience within a TS16949 environment is desirable.
