The role

To be an integral part of the WEEE & Batteries team, coordinating the management of the day-to-day workload – ensuring completion of daily, weekly and monthly tasks in line with internal and regulatory deadlines. Delivering line management to the compliance team, ensuring a high level of customer service to existing customers and a positive retention record. To keep abreast of any regulatory and policy aspects which may impact WEEE and Batteries compliance activity to inform business strategy.

The responsibilities (there are more!)

  • Day-to-day management of the WEEE & Batteries team, supporting in priority setting in line with internal and regulatory deadlines.
  • Coordinate the delivery of department work, quality checks, and customer audits, in line with internal, customer and regulatory deadlines.
  • Act as the first escalation point for customer issues, supporting retention activity and ensuring a consistently high level of customer service, including being a point of contact for some customers.
  • Support policy awareness and preparedness by working closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Advisor, contributing to consultations, industry engagement and customer communications.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members, supporting with decision-making, compliance queries, customer service in support of building their knowledge and facilitating cross-team collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, documentation, communication templates and service delivery within the WEEE & Batteries team.

The person

You will be an experienced and confident leader with excellent communication and motivational skills. You will be highly organised and proactive, with the ability to effectively allocate tasks, manage deadlines and oversee multiple priorities, identifying risks, resolving issues and ensuring the smooth running of the team. You will have strong leadership skills with previous experience in line management and will be confident in fostering a collaborative and supportive environment to enable team members to develop their skills and expertise.

You will be highly adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail and proficient in Microsoft Office. You will be an excellent communicator, able to engage with both internal and external customers, providing clear guidance, support and technical expertise, proactively keeping stakeholders informed. Taking a strong customer-focused mindset, you will ensure our services are delivered to the highest standard with a passion for driving continuous improvement.

To thrive in this role, you will be passionate and excited to work for a business for good and excited to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be a hands-on, solution-focused team player who works well in a team with a ‘muck in’ approach, being flexible and highly resilient.

A UK driving licence is required to carry out on-site customer visits and audits. We require all members of staff to work from the office every day for their first 3 months, and 3 days a week following this, therefore living within commuting distance to Skipton should be considered when applying.

If you have previous experience of working in environmental legislation, compliance or regulation, or have extensive experience of working in a customer focused environment then even better. A wicked sense of humour is a bonus too!
