James Donnelly Ltd. is seeking to recruit an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role will involve UK and Ireland work, using a range of vehicles and trailers including flatbed trailers, tautliners and low loaders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out long-distance driving duties safely, efficiently and professionally, ensuring that goods are transported securely and delivered in line with customer and business requirements.
Applicants should be aware that the role involves periods away from home, overnight stays and travel across the UK and Ireland.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out UK and Ireland driving duties in a safe, professional and timely manner.
- Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles with a range of trailers, including flatbeds, tautliners and low loaders.
- Ensure loads are safely secured and transported in accordance with legal, safety and company requirements.
- Complete vehicle checks, report defects promptly and maintain accurate records as required.
- Comply with drivers' hours, tachograph and road transport regulations.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers, suppliers and members of the public.

Required Criteria
- Valid HGV Class 1 / Category C+E driving licence with at least 1 years driving experience.
- Valid digital tachograph card.
- Good understanding of drivers' hours, tachograph rules and road safety requirements.
- Willingness to undertake long-distance driving and periods away from home.
- Good Verbal and written communication skills
Desired Criteria
- Experience using flatbed trailers, tautliners and/or low loaders.
- Experience of UK and Ireland haulage work.
- Mechanical awareness or basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
