We’re looking for qualified counsellors and therapists who are willing to donate a spare practice space to a trans well-being and support charity.

Your experience will help us deliver mental well-being support to the trans+ community, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and empowering them to navigate challenges, build resilience, and make healthy decisions about their future. The current hostile media landscape and long waiting lists to access gender affirming care mean our members are more in need than ever to access support. By volunteering some of your practice hours you can make a huge difference to an otherwise disenfranchised client group.

What are we looking for?

  • Volunteers should be qualified counsellors or therapists who have their own private practice.
  • They will be working with clients who have been assessed as high risk and so therefore should not be newly qualified.
  • Experience working with or understanding of the LGBT+ community is desirable.

What will you be doing?

Our members are trans+, non-binary and questioning adults and their family, who are looking for support. We’re looking for qualified counsellors and therapists to take clients through their private practice, using their own systems and can take as many or as few clients as they wish. In return we offer training, therapeutic development days and valuable experience working with a minority group.

Please note that the clients who we need qualified therapists for are ones specifically assessed as not suitable for placement counsellors. Therefore it is likely that a large amount of the clients you are seeing will be high risk, this can be for a number of different reasons for example suicidal ideation, eating disorders or multiple or complex mental health diagnoses. Therefore this is not a role for a newly qualified counsellor.
