About Beyond Procurement

Beyond Procurement is a growing UK consultancy helping organisations reduce cost, carbon and commercial risk. Alongside our established consultancy services, we are developing new sustainability, technology and partnership-led growth opportunities and are now looking for an experienced person to help us execute the next stage of our growth.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional Operations & Growth Manager to work directly with the CEO as a senior, hands-on member of the business. This is a broad role for someone who can combine strategic thinking, project management, commercial awareness and execution. You will help turn ideas and opportunities into structured plans, drive projects through to completion, coordinate internal and external resources and ensure important opportunities are properly followed through. Crucially, we want someone confident enough to question, challenge and improve our thinking, rather than simply follow instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn business priorities and ideas into clear, practical execution plans.
  • Take ownership of projects and drive them through to completion.
  • Coordinate employees, contractors, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Help launch and manage programmes with BIDs, local authorities and strategic partners.
  • Support business development and progress commercial opportunities.
  • Develop opportunities within our existing client base and wider networks.
  • Maintain visibility over priorities, actions, deadlines and pipeline.
  • Identify problems, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use technology, automation and AI to improve how the business operates.
  • Reduce the amount of operational management currently sitting with the CEO.

About You

We are more interested in capability and judgement than a particular industry background. You are likely to have significant experience in operations, project/programme management, commercial management, client services, partnerships or running part of an SME. You will be:

  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercially minded and comfortable identifying opportunities.
  • A strong project manager who gets things finished.
  • Strategic enough to see the bigger picture.
  • Assertive and comfortable challenging decisions constructively.
  • Able to work independently without constant direction.
  • Confident dealing with senior clients and external stakeholders.
  • Numerate and attentive to accuracy.
  • Comfortable with technology and interested in AI and automation.
  • Hands-on and willing to do what is required in a growing SME.

Experience in sustainability, procurement or local government would be useful but is not essential.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first few months, you should have taken meaningful operational workload away from the CEO, established greater control over key projects and priorities, improved coordination across the business and helped accelerate our growth initiatives. We are looking for someone who can be given an important objective, work out how to achieve it, challenge the approach where necessary, coordinate the people involved and make sure it gets done. For the right person, there is significant scope for the role and responsibility to grow as the business develops.
