An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, values-driven Teaching Assistant to join our team at our recently founded independent SEMH secondary school in Fareham, Hampshire. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to access learning, achieve positive outcomes, and develop socially and emotionally within a nurturing and structured environment.

Working under the direction of teaching staff, you will provide high-quality support to pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping to create engaging learning experiences and promoting positive behaviour. The role may also include supervising break times, supporting off-site activities, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

About this role

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective learning activities for pupils.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate pupil records, attendance information, and other administrative documentation as required.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and promote positive pupil engagement.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, educational visits, and other activities as required.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Undertake additional administrative and pastoral duties as directed by the teaching team.
