Alternative Provision Tutor / Complex Needs Mentor (Freelance – Nottinghamshire) £30–£35 per hour | Flexible Hours | Immediate Start Beyond Limits Learning & Wellbeing We are looking for passionate Alternative Provision Tutors to join our growing team in Nottinghamshire. This is a freelance opportunity where you will provide 1:1 and small-group support for children and young people who cannot access mainstream school. As an Alternative Provision Tutor, you’ll deliver academic learning, mentoring, and therapeutic support. You’ll work with learners who present with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, trauma histories, and complex needs. Sessions often include English and Maths, but may also focus on ART Awards, ASDAN, iDEA Awards, creative projects, cooking, or life skills. This role is about more than tutoring — it’s about connection, curiosity, and compassion. About the role Freelance Alternative Provision Tutor / Mentor positions available now Supporting children and young people aged 6–16 Sessions delivered in 2.5–3 hour blocks (morning or afternoon), term-time only Locations: Our own fixed venues, community venues, learner homes, or libraries across Nottinghamshire (Mansfield, Arnold, Newark, Worksop, and surrounding areas) Pay: £30–£35 per hour depending on complexity What you’ll do Support learners with SEND and additional needs (Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, trauma, sensory differences) Deliver core subjects (English, Maths, Functional Skills) and creative pathways (ART Awards, ASDAN, vocational projects, iDEA Awards) Encourage fun, curiosity, and out-of-the-box thinking to re-engage learners in education Provide therapeutic support (emotional regulation, PACE, mindfulness, sensory activities, co-regulation) Assist with personal care where required (toileting, hygiene, feeding) — always with dignity and safeguarding at the core Build confidence, independence, and life skills alongside academic learning We’re looking for Alternative Provision Tutors who are: Creative, caring, and empathetic — able to make learning fun and engaging Patient, grounded, and resilient in emotionally challenging situations Reactive and adaptable — ready to change direction quickly if needed Comfortable with personal care tasks (toileting, hygiene, feeding) Strong communicators who can provide short weekly progress updates Passionate about making a real difference, not just ticking boxes Essential requirements Self-employed Fluent in English Enhanced DBS on the Update Service Full UK driving licence with business insurance Right to work in the UK Bonus if you have: QTS or experience in SEND, youth work, mentoring, or care Skills in Makaton, PECS, Lego therapy, or creative arts education Paediatric First Aid, manual handling, or medication awareness training A background in teaching, coaching, therapy, or mentoring Why join Beyond Limits as an Alternative Provision Tutor?
