Reporting to: Assistant Manager/ Manager

Location: Office Based role

Hours of work: 32.5 hours per week distributed over 5 days including Monday - Saturday. 1 day off will be given during the week. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs.

Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of permanency subject to business requirements.

Salary: £25,803.00 per annum (Pro rata)

Carnglen Credit Union is seeking a professional, organised and member-focused individual to join our team as a Member Services and Branch Promotions Officer. This varied role combines front-line member service with support for local marketing and promotional activity, offering an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, delivering high standards of service and contributing to the ongoing promotion of the Credit Union within the local community.

Overall Objective: The Member Services Officer is responsible for delivering high-quality, courteous and professional service to members. The role involves efficiently handling a wide range of member transactions, accuracy in daily operations, and supporting the delivery of services across multiple channels including in-person, telephone, email and online platforms. In addition, the position will work closely with management to ensure advertising and promotional activities are delivered in line with the credit union marketing strategy.

Key Responsibilities - Member services:

  • Deliver a professional, friendly, and efficient front-line service
  • Respond to queries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Take ownership that all member queries are resolved to the satisfaction of members and the business
  • Assist members in the accurate completion of forms, such as membership, loan applications, ensuring all documentation is submitted
  • Explain credit union products and services to members
  • Process a variety of transactions, including lodgements, withdrawals, loan issue, foreign exchange, standing orders/efts
  • Ensure daily transactions are balanced accurately and in accordance with internal procedures, account for any inconsistencies
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date member records
  • Maintain compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, GDPR and all other relevant regulatory and company policies

Administrative support:

  • Keep up to date with internal systems, procedures and regulatory training
  • Undertake training and development as required to meet regulatory and business needs
  • Always uphold and promote the values and principles of the Credit Union
  • Collaborate, be courteous, helpful and professional in all interactions with members, colleagues and management

Key Responsibilities - Branch Promotions:

  • Participate in the implementation of the Marketing plan
  • Look for opportunities to promote the credit union within local community
  • Assist, as directed, in marketing projects, initiatives, brand messaging and reporting
  • Maintain the credit union website
  • Operate social media accounts

Required Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above to include English Language and Maths
  • A minimum 2 years experience of working in customer/member service role
  • A minimum 1 years experience maintaining a business website, operating business social media accounts
  • Ability to be compliant with credit union procedures
  • Excellent communications skills to include verbal and written communication
  • Experience in cash handling and dealing with the public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to work in a busy working environment
  • The ability to work on own initiative, manage workloads and as part of a team

Desired Criteria:

  • 2 A-levels (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working in a Credit Union or Financial Services environment
