Working hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £34,000 per annum plus 5% employer pension contribution. The benefits package includes 25 days annual leave plus 12 statutory holidays.
The Northern Ireland Boys Brigade (BBNI) works with 11,423 boys and young men aged 4-18 through 238 BB companies in Northern Ireland and Donegal. BBNI companies are led by more than 2,700 volunteer leaders who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people, while providing them with an opportunity to hear about the love of Jesus. About The Role
The Safeguarding Manager will lead the development and implementation of safeguarding policy, practice, and culture across BBNI. The postholder will ensure that safeguarding responsibilities are effectively embedded throughout the organisation and that children, young people, and vulnerable adults are protected from harm. The role will provide expert advice and leadership on safeguarding matters, oversee the management of safeguarding concerns and referrals, and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidance. The Safeguarding Manager will work collaboratively with staff, volunteer leaders, trustees, statutory agencies, and partner organisations to promote a safe, supportive and accountable environment across all areas of BBNI's work.
Required Criteria
- Excellent knowledge of Safeguarding/Child Protection policies and procedures
- Prior experience in safeguarding management e.g. Safeguarding Lead, Safeguarding Manager or Designated Officer (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience of working with and supporting volunteers
- Experience of working with external agencies
- Excellent IT and administrative skills
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to respect confidentiality
- Ability to deal with conflicting pressures/deadlines
