Stepping Stones NI are looking for a Cook to join our team at The Courtyard Café in Lisburn. This is a rewarding role where you will prepare high-quality food while supporting adults with learning disabilities in an inclusive and positive working environment. You will play an important role in creating a welcoming café experience, helping individuals develop skills, confidence and independence within a catering setting.

About The Role

  • Prepare, cook and present fresh, high-quality meals, baked goods and café items.
  • Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.
  • Support menu planning, stock control, deliveries and reducing food waste.
  • Work alongside and mentor team members with learning disabilities, providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Help deliver excellent customer service and support the smooth running of the café.
  • Occasionally deputise for the Café Manager when required.

Required Criteria

  • City and Guilds 706 / 1&2 (or equivalent) or above
  • Essential Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
  • At least 3 years experience as a cook in a busy catering environment
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures including COSHH and HACCP
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Display an understanding of the barriers facing people with a learning disability

Desired Criteria

  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or willing to work towards same
  • Experience of working with adults with a Learning Disability
