We are looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Coordinator to join our team. You will act as the first point of contact and provide support to both customers and Beyond Housing colleagues, with all matters relating to safeguarding, across Beyond Housing's operating area in North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
You will oversee, manage and monitor all alerts and referrals, and provide advice, support and guidance to Beyond Housing colleagues as well as liaising with customers and external stakeholders, ensuring all alerts are acted upon in a timely manner and all investigated to conclusion. You will represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings and work in conjunction with both statutory and third sector partners to develop joint working processes and contribute to strategies regarding safeguarding and Prevent.
This demanding and rewarding role requires a confident, skilled and driven person with a sound knowledge of Safeguarding under the Care Act, social care, medical and mental health referral pathways, safeguarding legislation and good practice, and the Mental Capacity Act; as well as a skill for problem solving, acting on professional curiosity, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels, as well as the ability to respond calmly and effectively to crisis.
The right candidate will be confident, approachable and knowledgeable, with a calm and unflappable attitude and the ability to take control of a situation, issue instructions, provide relevant advice and guide others. Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of a Trauma Informed Approach, mental capacity and a good understanding of the Government's Prevent agenda.
You will have a good ability to develop robust professional working relationships and confidently engage with Local Authorities and other services effectively. You will be able to communicate clearly and confidently with customers in crisis, as well as with fellow housing and support professionals in both the statutory sector as well as the third/voluntary sector.
The Supported Living team sits within the Housing team who provide numerous support services to enable our customers to live independently in their homes. The post is a full-time permanent post based in Scarborough, but will also require occasional travel to our Redcar office and other operating areas in North and East Yorkshire.
