We are looking for a dedicated safeguarding coordinator to join our team. You will act as the first point of contact and provide support to both customers and colleagues, with all matters relating to safeguarding, across Beyond Housing's operating area in North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
You will oversee, manage and monitor all alerts and referrals, providing advice, support and guidance to your colleagues, as well as liaising with customers and external stakeholders. You will ensure all alerts are acted upon promptly and fully investigated to conclusion. You will represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings and work in conjunction with both statutory and third sector partners to develop joint working processes and contribute to strategies regarding safeguarding and Prevent.
The demanding and rewarding role requires a confident, skilled and driven person with a sound knowledge of safeguarding in relation to:
- The Care Act
- Medical and mental health referral pathways
- Safeguarding legislation and good practice
- The Mental Capacity Act
Strong problem-solving skills, professional curiosity, and the ability to communicate clearly across all levels are essential, as is the capacity to respond calmly and effectively to a crisis. As our safeguarding coordinator, you will need to be approachable and knowledgeable, with a calm, unflappable attitude and the confidence to take control, issue instructions, provide relevant advice and guide others. Ideally, you'll have a solid understanding of a Trauma Informed Approach, mental capacity, and the government's Prevent agenda. The ability to build strong, professional working relationships and to engage with local authorities and other services is also key to this role.
The supported living team sits within the housing department, which provides a wide range of support services to enable our customers to live independently in their homes. The post is a full-time, permanent position based in Scarborough, but will also require occasional travel to our Redcar office and other operating areas in North and East Yorkshire.
Closing date for applications is Friday 13 February 2025 at midday; applications will be reviewed throughout the duration of the advert and we may close it early should enough applications be received. We are not working with recruitment agencies on this vacancy. Interviews are scheduled to be held on Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 March at our Scarborough office.
